Established in 1837 as London’s first luxury hotel, the five-star Brown’s Hotel in Mayfair combines historic prestige with modern luxury. This Rocco Forte property comprises 11 interconnected Georgian townhouses, offering an intimate feel across 115 rooms that have hosted royalty and world leaders for nearly two centuries. It sits in a prime location, a scenic stroll through Green Park from Buckingham Palace and steps from Bond Street’s elite boutiques.
Upgrading fire safety infrastructure within a live, historic luxury hotel presented significant logistical hurdles. The basement area features a labyrinth-style layout with narrow corridors, creating strict spatial constraints. Additionally, the project had to be executed in an extremely busy environment with high volumes of hotel staff working around the clock.
To ensure zero disruption to hotel operations, works were carefully phased. The team installed certified replacement FD30 and FD60 door sets and performed extensive remedial works to existing doors. Deliveries and installations were tightly coordinated to navigate the tight basement spaces safely alongside active hotel staff.
Completed on schedule, the project delivered 100% compliance across all targeted fire doors, securing the building’s safety certification. Furthermore, the new door installations completely revitalized the heavily trafficked, worn basement areas, significantly improving the aesthetics of the staff work environment.
